Capranica. Procession of Madonnes and Cocciarelle

The procession of of Madonnes and Cocciarelle of Capranica takes its name from the small handmade terracotta and pottery products.

They are used to be produced for September 8th procession in honour of the birth of the Madonna and the connected feast.

The Madonna is the patron saint of Capranica that has always celebrated the day with religious and joyful events.

Every year a procession brings the statue near to the church of the Madonna del Piano.

On this day the facade of the church, built by the famous architect Jacopo Barozzi, is illuminated by hundreds of candles and lamps in order to amaze all the participants in the religious procession.
