For the celebrations of Easter, Boville Ernica does things on a large scale and organizes 4 days of events that begin with pain and end with joy.
It starts Good Friday evening with the Passion and the Procession of the Dead Christ that parades through the streets of this beautiful village enclosed by walls of the Ciociaria.
The event ends on Easter Monday with a large festival dedicated to the mosaic of Giotto's Angel, which is located in the Simoncelli Chapel inside the Church of San Pietro Ispano connected to the Benedictine Monastery.
The whole village comes alive with flag-wavers that surround a great food and wine festival. The centre of the event is the Sagra della Pizza Fritta (festival offried pizza), but you can taste many traditional local products and wines with a sommelier to guide.
