Lubriano. Feast of the Madonna del Poggio

This feast of the Madonna del Poggio in Lubriano was born from a centuries-old tradition.

On Ascension Day, a "Lady", an unmarried girl chosen by the parish priest, aided by two companions of her choice, will have to take care of the temple for a year.

At home she will then have to keep an old picture of the Madonna and recite the rosary every Wednesday.

On the Wednesday or Thursday before the feast the men and women go to the countryside to pick flowers and essences, such as acacia, broom (commonly called May) and roses, which are used for the traditional "Infiorata".
