In the first week of August, in Rocca Priora the feast of Our Lady of the Snow is celebrated with a solemn procession parading at sunset through the streets of the village.
The procession is accompanied by a 'Artificial Snowfall' shot from guns.
The snow, the music of the band, the view and the narrow streets of the old town make this a very special procession.
During the holidays, musical shows are held and there is a Singing Competition for Children.
The Rocca Priora economy thrived for centuries thanks to the 'industry of the snow': gathering snow in winter, putting it in special wells, compressing it to make it into ice that was then sold in summer to hospitals in Rome and the Curia.
