Genzano di Roma. Feast of St. Thomas of Villanova

Genzano di Roma. Feast of St. Thomas of Villanova

Genzano di Roma celebrates its patron Saint Thomas of Villanova, a religious son of a Spanish miller who was famous for sharing his bread with the poor.

He was born in Spain in 1488 and was the spiritual adviser and confessor of Emperor Charles V.

He was the first to send Catholic missionaries to Latin America.

The celebrations include a solemn mass and a procession along the streets of the village.
