Civitella San Paolo. Feast of the Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary

September 8 is a day of celebration in Civitella San Paolo in honour of the birth of the Virgin Mary and the patron Saint James.

In general, the festival takes place at weekends and religious celebrations begin on Saturday with the procession at 9 pm in which the statues of the Virgin Mary and of St. James the Apostle and Martyr are carried on the shoulders of the villagers through the streets of the medieval village .

The procession ends when the statues arrive in the churchyard and then the fireworks start. The weekend also features outdoor dinners and festive displays on the streets.
