Gorga. Feast of Saint Domenico Guzman

August 2-4: A much loved patron, this is the feast of Saint Domenico Guzman in Gorga, a village settled in the Lepini Mountains which offers a unique view. A town visited often by all those who love the stars and who watch them from the Gorga Astronomical Observatory.

San Domenico was born in 1170 in Caleruega, Spain, and is the founder of the Order of Friars Preachers whose mission was to be traveling preachers, begging and studying deeply. St. Dominic brought the church back to its original morality and spirituality, he then died in Bologna in 1221. Pope Gregory IX will sanctify him in 1234.

On August 4, a solemn mass is celebrated, followed by a procession through the streets of the town, while in the evening the 10th anniversary of the Astronomical Observatory is celebrated.
