Collalto Sabino. Feast of St. Gregory the Great, Pope

On 3 September the feast is held of St. Gregory the Great, Pope, patron of the town of Collalto Sabino, and one of the greatest Fathers in the history of the Church.

Saint Gregory is one of four Doctors of the West and therefore deserved the title of Magno / Great.

In addition to his pontificate in support of the most needy, he was responsible for a sacramentary that bears his name and is the fundamental nucleus of the Roman Missal.

He was a great author and left writings of pastoral character, moral and spiritual that have formed people during all the Middle Ages.
