The Inchinata (bowing) is the most important religious celebration of Cervara di Roma and for its location to August 14th is also the centre of an intense activity of celebrations of Ferragosto with outdoor dinners enlivened by live music.
The Inchinata is a procession where the key figures, the Madonna and the Lord, start at the same time from two churches and meet in the square with a 'bow' where the Madonna bows before the Saviour.
The most important procession starts from the church of Santa Maria della Visitazione, while the other comes from Santa Maria della Portella, the church on the slopes of the village and the images are carried on their shoulders by the faithful.
