On May 24th and 25th Veroli celebrates the feast of the patron saint Santa Maria Salome.
Maria Salome was one of the "Pie Donne" who witnessed the Crucifixion, Death and Resurrection of Christ and the mother of the apostles Giovanni Evangelista and Giacomo il Maggiore.
Legend has it that Maria arrived at Veroli from Ephesus where she had taken refuge and where the governor of the time was a native of Veroli.
Here began his evangelization mission with San Mauro.
The festivities include the display of the reliquaries in the church and a solemn mass celebrated by the bishop in which the civil authorities of the cities of Atina, Alfedena and Palestrina also participate, having a history in common with Veroli.
A delegation of the Knights of Malta also takes part in the religious ceremonies for the role played by Maria Salomè in the Gospel.
After the mass begins the procession through the streets of the village the seventeenth-century statue of the saint and all her relics.
