Serrone. Trekking on Mount Scalambra

Mount Scalambra is crossed by marked paths that are part of the European path E1.

This path is the one that starts from the North Cape in Norway and arrive at Capo Passero in Sicily and which is over 6000 km long.

Wooden boards indicate the distances and the peculiarities of the flora and fauna of the place.

The network of European transnational paths ("E-paths") was started with the European Hiking Federation in the 60s for "ramblers, those walking aimlessly, to eliminate borders and duties.

The E1 path is the oldest and the only one that crosses from north to south Italy.

The whole stretch that crosses Ernici is known as "Quota -1000" trail because it maintains a constant height between 800 and 1000 meters above sea level.

It is a very easy trail that runs almost horizontally along an ancient road that connects Mount Scalambra with the Arcinazzo highlands and Piglio through a lovely beech forest and a beautiful lake of variegated colours.
