A Digital Nomad's Journey (Part 2): Thailand to Discover

Let's discover Asia with Alessia's journey

My journey as a digital nomad has just begun and I have already experienced so many emotions with the Thai people. I spent a week in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, and my first impressions of this culture are more than positive.

Thai people are always very kind, they help you even if they see you are slightly in difficulty, and they always smile at you; it is no coincidence that this country is nicknamed "land of smiles".

Not to mention the beauties of Bangkok.

The most widespread religion is Buddhism and we visited numerous temples, each with its own particularity. What struck me was the so-called "Wat Pho" with its famous statue of the very long "lying" Buddha of 46 meters (for 15m high), completely painted in gold. Here the Buddhist teachings are found in mother-of-pearl near the feet: a work so majestic and spiritual that it will leave you speechless.

I was very struck by the respect that Thais have for these sacred places: so deep that when you enter the temples you must first take off your shoes so as to enter barefoot (socks are allowed at most).

You must wear appropriate clothing and therefore: here I am showing off anti-fashion looks, almost worse than those worn when the courier arrives at your home and catches you red-handed while you are mopping the floor. Or when you go to throw out the garbage.

However, style and appearance lose importance when you are faced with such beauty, and we feel obliged to respect these traditions that are so important to the Thais: being obsequious is really the least we can do to bring the respect that these places deserve.

Another thing that I really liked about this city is the nightlife. You live on the streets: every meter you come across a different stall that sells you pad Thai, or other Thai specialties, for little money (but delicious!).

And then my favorite neighborhood: Chinatown! Full of Chinese and Japanese dishes, where you can taste a bit of everything and admire the city always in motion.

Nearby there is also a night market open only at night!

We almost got lost in the alleys full of stands where everything is on sale: from clothing, to technology, from stuffed animals to hair accessories. You can find everything ... simply wonderful!

The most enjoyable day? I think the one I spent in Ayutthaya.

This city full of history is only an hour and a half from Bangkok and is famous for being the previous capital of Thailand. We visited an archaeological site with the remains of a complex of temples dating back to the 15th/16th century that contain stupas, inside which relics of the Buddha were found.

We then rented bicycles crossing a river with the boat (with bikes included) and then toured freely among these temples on our two wheels. The atmosphere was magical, but at the same time carefree and cheerful with us going far and wide whizzing among the other tourists!

First stop good - actually, very good.

We are having fun and always try to stay balanced with our feet on the ground taking the time to follow our customers remotely and not let them miss our assistance. Duty first and then pleasure!

I'm writing to you right now from the train to Nakhon Sawan, the next stop on our super trip, and I can't wait to tell you about all the upcoming adventures!
