The collective ideal of the Kamasutra, because of the various translations and transpositions, over time this was reduced to a periodic table of erotic element positions, namely: 64 positions (many of which are practically feasible only by athletes or gymnasts). In fact this manual contains all the knowledge of amateur alchemy art.
Let's dispel some urban myths, and give the right value to one of the most beautiful books about love that has ever been written.
Let us begin right from the title of this book. "Kama Sutra", which literally translated from Sanskrit is "speeches on love" or maybe "treaty on sexual desire." The "Kamasutra" is the first Hindu text that addresses in detail the topic of love and sexual behavior. Legend has it that the Kamasutra has a divine origin, that it was inspired by the Indian god Shiva. Tradition has it that Shiva, after falling in love with his female equivalent, would dictate a treaty of erotic art and the practice of love.
The writing took place around the fourth century, from the hands of Mallanaga Vatsyayana. The book is divided into 36 chapters and deals with various themes. This book explores in succession: the art of love, foreplay, positions (as opposed to what you may believe, occupy only a small part of the book), the choice of a wife, courtship and finally how to attract the other person. Objectively some of the recommendations are no longer applicable to the present day, but in other respects it is a modern book and disarming in its lucidity. In particular I have chosen to focus just on how a woman should be able to attract a man.
How to seduce a man
In Part One, Chapter III "Of Arts and Sciences to Study", Vatsyayana describes, in detail, all you need to know for a woman to attract a man to her. Of the 64 commandments in this Sutra, I have selected only a few, in my opinion the most interesting.
A woman must thus consider the following arts, going hand in hand with the Kamasutra:
4) The combination of song, dance and instrumental music.
5) Writing and drawing.
21) Magic or sorcery.
23) The culinary arts.
27) The solution of riddles, anagrams, words with double meaning, word games, and puzzles.
30) Reading, which also includes singing and intonation.
32) The use of the sword, stick, stick defense, bow and arrow.
33) The art of making deductions.
35) Architecture, or the art of building.
37) Chemistry and mineralogy.
40) The art of the gardener; the art of curing diseases of trees and plants in general; the art of keeping the plants well and learn to recognize the same age.
44) The art of deciphering private deeds and various scriptures of the words.
45) The art of speaking by altering the shape of the words. This game is done in various ways. Some change the participle at the end of words; others alter the arrangement of letters between the syllables of a word, etc.
46) Knowledge of languages and provincial dialects.
48) The art of drawing mystical diagrams or preparing spells, or to weave bracelets.
50) The composition of poems.
51) Knowledge of dictionaries and vocabularies.
53) The art of changing the look of things, like to pretend cotton is silk and common and vulgar objects are fine and rare objects
58) The science of war, weapons, armies, etc.
59) The Art of Gymnastics.
60) The art of guessing the character of a man by the physiognomy.
61) The art of scanning or constructing verses.
A public woman, endowed with good provisions, which add to the beauty ... more attractions. She has the right, in a society of men, to a place of honour. She will always be respected by the king, and praised by the literati, while everyone will seek her favour, as she becomes an object of universal consideration.
And also the daughter of a king, or a minister, if she possesses the qualities of which we have now spoken, will ensure the preference by her husband even if he had thousands of wives. In addition, if a woman separates from her husband or falls into poverty, she could easily earn a living abroad, with the only knowledge of these arts.
Only for a woman to know them constitutes an attraction, and as far as possible are put into practice only in certain circumstances. A man who knows these arts, and who knows how to speak politely and gallantly, will conquer the hearts of women even after a very brief report.
Intelligence is erotic (sexy)
This book is a hymn to love and respect - above all to each other. A contagious love, able to create the esteem of those around you. In particular, this story reminds women that the only those who know all these arts is entitled "to a place of honour". Is it true that the right to enter the world and into human hearts is not won by the sound of skirts, but with "sound provisions... other attractions"?
Vatsyayana then speaks of the importance of the economic independence of women. "A woman... could easily make a living... with only the knowledge of these arts." From this understanding a woman may not even find a husband, but will never die of hunger. This is a statement on the emancipation and dignity of women. The know-how to earn a living is an act of dignity, and for a man to love a woman, he loves firstly the dignity that she brings.
The text goes on to say "For a woman only knowledge is attractive", that tells us that knowledge is erotic - the mind attractive. The brain is the primary sexual organ to be stimulated. And it is the best way to charm and to seduce. Knowledge of the arts and sciences can bring forth a real erection in the brain. Attracting the brain of the other is therefore the first step to create a deep relationship, which is not based solely on physical attraction.
"The solution of riddles, anagrams, words with double meaning, word games, and puzzles" or the ability to reason, which is based on all the knowledge acquired will naturally lead to a deeper involvement in the exchange of brilliant cultural stimuli. Mental intrigues that will fuel a mutual curiosity. A seduction that will always feed new and vibrant reflections.
