Curious to know the winners? The 2024 edition of Ruggito d'Attore, the theater award in Ciociaria by the FITA - Italian Federation of Amateur Theatre, ended with mind-boggling numbers.
The theater sold out every show and for 6 evenings Alvito was the true capital of culture of Ciociaria. And don't think that the room was packed with authorities or special guests, the theater is alive and the public was happy to travel a few kilometers so as not to miss this review of Ciocian companies.
I was bewitched from the first show which talked about the digital divide in local dialect (and I felt touched to the core) and ended with the show based on Scarpetta's opera which lasted almost two and a half hours in three acts. I was scared and yet time flew by in an instant.
Luckily for the final evening, our artistic director Federico Mantova has planned a sixth show outside of Cartellone: that of his company L' allegra Brigata di Sora. He was unable to participate in the event due to obvious conflicts of interest with the jury and so he satisfied our desire for a show.
“It's easy to say let's get married!” is a two-act comedy of 'ordinary wedding madness' written and directed by Federico Mantova (who also played the role of the parish priest Don Terenzio).
A very pleasant text on the meaning of marriage: for love or for money? Does it only apply to young people or can marriage be done at any age?
Judging by the 86 years of Vittorio Taglione, who played the role of a lover who had never had the courage to declare himself, theater and love are good for us. And we should never deprive ourselves of them.
"It's easy to say let's get married!"

The most pleasant thing was the laughter of the audience but also the ladies behind me who knew the words and hummed the serenade that one of the actors gave to his beauty. I didn't know the song and my doubt was: do they know the song because they were serenaded or because they song for others?
My serenade was an evening of mandolins with Neapolitan music under the balcony and then upstairs on the large terrace of the house while a full moon illuminated us.
At the end of the evening, a great Debora Bovenga introduced all the winners, the jurors who awarded the prizes and gave the floor to each one, maintaining a good pace at the event.
I awarded the best character actor and I was particularly happy about it. The character actor is the one who creates joy by moving the audience to laughter. He is the one who spreads well-being and, if he is particularly good, also to reflection.
The Award of best show was given to “CAZZAROLARIA, the pot farce” brought to the stage by the Produzioni Prosperiane theater company of Isola del Liri directed by Piergiorgio Sperduti.
The motivation for the award: "The "Produzioni Prosperiane" company, through a brilliant reworking of an ancient text by Plautus, has staged a nice and lively farce that bases its comedy on misunderstanding and the ability to take it to the end."
From the original ancient Latin to Ciociaro slung the step was natural and the actors' improvisations demonstrated the true spirit of this 'comedy of art'.
Cristina Valeri, representing FITA Lazio, participated in the award ceremony and was particularly impressed by our 'Ciociaro spirit' which in an original way founds the Roman and Neapolitan ones.
We managed to have our own original identity in the face of the two great cultures of Rome and Naples!
