Late September in Sicily is the most beautiful time to travel.
The blue sky is clear of clouds or sometimes overshadowed by a late summer storm with a downpour of rain, wind, lightning and thunder and then suddenly illuminated by the sunset in the clear air.
The sea is calm or moved by the wind that caresses it shyly like a lover. The intense aromas of our island. The jasmine with its strong smell that is released on hot nights, basil, geranium, mint and tamarisks with their humble hair shaken by the breeze.
My stay in Cala Bernardo has aroused strong emotions, its beauty, peace, colours, aromas.
The clear rock that makes the seabed white, the immaculate beach with posidonia flowers, and the white sunbeds on which to lie down to savour such beauty, the senses enhanced by the sun and the blue of the sea framed by the foliage of the marine shrubs.
There are a few houses adorned with bougainvillea in bright colours, from red to white, a welcoming place, friendly people, the Sicily of the past, authentic.
Lying in the sun comes the scent of fresh fish, fried fish and roasts.
Cala Bernardo is not only sea, not far away in fact echoes the beauty of Noto with its baroque, theatre and its splendid churches.

Noto, a jewel of the Sicilian Baroque period, perched on a plateau overlooking its valley; while strolling there you can admire the remains of the medieval walls and the medieval castle.
But what strikes you is the layout of the Baroque town with its streets interspersed with splendid squares with stairways overviewed by majestic churches and palaces. You wander through the city intoxicated by harmonious and elegant shapes.
Three main squares; Piazza dell'Immacolata with the church of the same name; the town hall square enclosed by the town hall; the church of the Santissimo Salvatore, the bishop's palace, and the splendid cathedral of San Nicolò which commands from above with a scenic staircase.
Time passes slowly as you go through illuminated streets where people are walking happily.
