11 June - Interview with the mayor of Bracciano: lake and nature, tourism offers for young people and families

A nice chat with the mayor of Bracciano, Armando Tondinelli who told us about his tourism development plan for the magnificent village on the shores of Lake Bracciano.

An interview that arose thanks to the participation of the municipality of Bracciano in the contest #IlFuturoNelleNostreRadici that we launched to make our municipalities known.

And the first stories about Bracciano are already on their way and we will also translate them into English. This is a way to make known the qualities and memories of this town told directly by those who have already experienced them.

For the mayor and the municipal administration of Bracciano, the real challenge today is to make the beauties and unique activities offered by the area more and more known. The goal is to become a reference point for young people and families who want to do outdoor activities.

Two words to uniquely identify Bracciano: lake and nature.

And the administration has launched the new identification logo that represents the essence of this territory. Mayor Tondinelli tells us:

"Everyone knows the castle where dream weddings took place, but Bracciano is a perfect destination for families with children who can have fun doing outdoor sports. Then, everyone can eat the unique delights of the area, such as porchetta made in an oven that has been operating continuously since 1500 and the famous pecorino cheese with an unmistakable flavour".

Among the many sports and nature experiences in the area, two are absolutely worth trying: sailing on the lake and the MTB route along the ancient Etruscan paths in the woods that connect it with Cerveteri.

Sailing on the lake is magical to the point that in 2016 the 470 Class World Sailing Championships were held here, the queen of the sailing boats capable of combining technique and fun. Then in 2018 the Junior World Championships of the Class 470 were also held here.

And the waters of the lake are perfect for sailing experts, but also for those who want to learn thanks to the prestigious sailing schools where you can find offers for a range of sailing boats.

For those who prefer the nature of a forest to the fluidity of the water, Bracciano offers a truly unique path that follows an ancient Etruscan route that can be travelled on foot, by bicycle or even on horseback.

An experience for kids and Mountain Bike lovers that can be done with local guides who explain not only the peculiarities of the forest but also the history of a territory inhabited since the Etruscan period.

The route reaches Cerveteri where the necropolises are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and which has been declared a City of Culture of Lazio for 2020.

With lake and woods, Bracciano then becomes the leader of sports activities that can involve the whole family in one or more days in one of the most surprising places just a few steps from Rome.
