In the Colli sul Velino are the remains of two Villae Rusticae (Rustic Roman Villas).
A villa dating back to the first century BC belonged to Quinto Assio, Roman consul in 55 BC.
Cicero described the wonders of this villa, called "delle Rosce" in a letter.
The building was raised above the fields, well-oriented and served by plumbing that exploited nearby sources of Santa Susanna, known at the time as Septem Aquae.
Even Varro has dwelt in the description of this villa in which he has told of the organization of space, divided into ‘pars dominica’ (for people) and ‘pars rustica’ (for agriculture and flora), the ornate decorations in gold and turquoise on the walls, and mosaic floors.
