In Zagarolo is the ancient trade square of the Vignola school with arcaded sides where the market was held. The whole square is decorated with stuccoes, columns and in two large niches there are two togate statues from the excavations of Gabi.
The church of San Lorenzo, the Palazzo di Giustizia and the Palazzo del Municipio open onto this square so as to draw, together with Palazzo Rospigliosi, a Latin cross scheme. The main directions go from the center of ecclesiastical power to the ducal one and run along the crest of the long hill on which Zagarolo was built.
The urban layout design is a module that is repeated in the Palaces of Zagarolo and the reference size is half the length of the facade of Palazzo Rospigliosi.
