The church of Saint Blaise is the main church of Marano Equo and despite its neoclassical appearance it is very old. Its history is linked to that of the castle of the village and initially it was the chapel of the castle.
The expansion of the original nucleus was built right on the ruins of the castle. The current form dates back to the works of the 19th century and the plaster facade appears austere and enriched by a marble frieze of the door and a window with a stained glass window that incorporates the image of the saint.
The bell tower was built on the right side of the church, right in correspondence with the clock that marked the times of the ancient village.
The interior is in neoclassical style with a single nave and side chapels. The central nave has a barrel-vaulted roof and ends with an apse which houses the altar area and is enriched by an eighteenth-century canvas depicting San Biagio healing the sick, in fact the saint is the protector of throat sufferers.
On a niche in the area to the right of the altar, a fresco of St. George and the dragon recalls the medieval past of the original church.
Above the entrance is a choir loft which houses an organ.
