Amatrice. Sanctuary Icon Passatora

The Marian Shrine of Ferrazza is dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie, called the Passatora Icon for the icon is held in the gabled tabernacle.

The church was built during the fourteenth century, over a temple that contains the image of the Virgin venerated since the thirteenth century and the interior is richly frescoed by the Amatrician painter Dionisio Cappelli.

There is a very special portrait of the Madonna and Child Enthroned holding up the city of Amatrice in miniature.
