Blera. Horse Museum

Blera. Horse Museum

The Horse Museum is dedicated to King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden, who participated in the archaeological excavations of Blera. It describes the history of the horse and the relationship between man and horse from prehistoric times. The museum is split into two sections: the animal's evolution from its ancestors and then, life in the Maremma with the famous cowboys.
Horses have made an integral part of life for people of this part of Italy and the fate of man was found often intertwined with that of animals. An outdoor area of the museum houses the faithful reconstruction of working environments such as: the stable, the watering hole, the blacksmith’s shop, the whip for taming, and the Maremma hut.
