Santi Cosma e Damiano. Processing "stramma" (Ampelodesmos)

The 'stramma' (Ampelodesma) is a very hardy perennial herb also known as 'tagliamani' for its sharp leaves that can hurt your hands.

This poor quality resource for years has enabled a local economy of Santi Cosma e Damiano.

This herb is the basis of the twine and production of a string known as cetta.

The string is used for the cultivation of fruit trees, or for breeding mussels. Cetta is also sewn to obtain various artifacts such as the doormats and baskest.
