Neapolitan gate or ‘posterula’ - secondary door of the town of Fumone, from which comes the current denomination of "portella" or escape hatch.
Its name comes from is orientation and the gate faces Naples. It is flanked by a large circular tower.
It was actually a security exit that kept its original design until 1831, when it was demolished so that the procession with the cross and the canopy of St. Sebastian, patron of the country, could pass.
