The present castle of Morlupo was rebuilt on the ashes of the medieval one destroyed in 1433 by Pope Martin V in the conflicts with soldiers of fortune.
Its location reveals the protective role of the first village of Morlupo where people took refuge at the end of the ninth century.
In the sixteenth century it was rebuilt by Antimo Orsini as a Renaissance palace, home to a noble family. The palace has symmetrical entrances, towards the village and from the main square, and all the interiors are symmetrical around a courtyard.
The main tower is incorporated with the creation of a covered passage.
At the door one notices the coat of arms of the Orsini-Aldobrandeschi (rampant lion) and Morlupo (wolf with rooster).
In 1613 the palace passed to the Borghese family who had never had strong ties with Morlupo and it was used by the governor and as a granary.
