The medieval castle of Torricella in Sabina is built on the highest point overlooking the entire old village.
The first official records date back to 1254 when it was the seat of the residential Brancaleone family.
Towards the end of the fifteenth century the castle passed into the hands of the Orsini family, and in the seventeenth century became an asset of the Apostolic Camera.
