Viterbo. Paratrooper Monument

In the modern area of Viterbo, just beyond the medieval part, there is an area reserved for the memory of the Second World War that here in Viterbo was particularly experienced for the numerous bombings that the city suffered.

Among the commemorative elements, one can immediately notice the large fountain dedicated to the paratroopers, an imposing yet delicate monument.

A large basin in peperino stone with a large bronze wing that comes out of boulders at the centre of the basin and another wing just lying on the boulders.

On the edge of the pool are the names of all the battles that have made the history of the Division: Africa, Kefalonia, the front of Anzio-Nettuno (RSI army) and the battle for Filottrano (army of the Southern Kingdom).

The monument was built by Lieutenant Colonel Paolo Caccia Dominioni, military, engineer and draftsman, in 1966.
