The Days of the Old Statutes and Palio Del Concone - Giorni dello Statuto is a beautiful and traditional festival takes place in July in Castro dei Volsci.
In Castro dei Volsci a weekend dedicated to the challenge between the 5 districts (called Carcia) brings to life the history of the charming Ciociaria village with games, parades and food and wine tastings. The challengers are Carcìa Collepece, Carcia Vallefratta, Carcìa Terra, Carcìa San Sosio and Carcìa Madonna del Formello.
The occasion of the event are the celebrations for the promulgation of the Municipal Statute in the Renaissance probably at the beginning of the fifteenth century, called "Statuta terrae Castri", which sanctioned the autonomy of Castro dei Volsci.
The statute governed the entire social life of the community and included four sections called 'Books' on procedural law, criminal law, norms of harm and others on the community. The administrative structure was then represented with the names and roles of the various persons responsible for the organization of the community.
The edition of the Statute is still in the municipality and was written by hand on parchment written by a copyist of the Colonna family in 1589 with sepia ink and some letters decorated in red.
The competitions include the archery tournament, the brick, concone and apple race and the darts tournament. To complete the traditions of Ciociaria there will also be card challenges with the tresette and tresette tournament and competitions with
table football. Some competitions are specially designed for children and teenagers.
The evenings are animated with musical performances and DJ sets. Do not forget a famous terrace overlooking the Valley of the Latins and a minute of inspiration under the statue of the Mamma Ciociara, one of the emblems of Ciociaria.
