Since 1986, on the first Sunday of August, the city of Ascrea organises the Festival of Fettuccine with Porcini Mushrooms (Sagra delle Fettuccine ai Funghi Porcini), the dish par excellence of Roman cuisine.
We are in Sabina, the area around Rieti, and Ascrea is a splendid village along the wall of Mout Filone with an incredible view of Lake Turano. The Turano Valley with its lake is an enchanting place, a small pearl that looks like something out of a postcard.
The party is accompanied by live music and dancing in the square. In the stands you can taste the porcini mushroom on bruschetta and prepared in other ways.
