Sezze. Homage to Ficorapizza or Prickly Pear

Homage to Ficorapicca or Prickly Pear (Omaggio alla Ficorapizza) is a festival dedicated to food and wine and the folk traditions of Sezze in a setting of popular games, music and folk dances.

Food and cuisine of the Lepini Mountains and a large area of the prickly pear, a plant with tasty fruits that characterizes the landscape of the slopes of the Lepini Mountains overlooking the Pontine Plain.

You can taste the famous 'extract' made of Ficorapizza, the mousse and Ficorapizza ice cream.

The prickly pear is a plant native to Mexico arrived in Europe with the first ships of the Spaniards.

The Aztecs considered it a sacred plant with strong symbolic values and thanks to which the color of carmine is produced.
