Roccasecca. Festival of Broccoletto

Roccasecca. Festival of Broccoletto

Every year on December 8th we celebrate the Roccasecca broccoli, called "Rapa Catalonia": a particular variety with a slightly bitter taste compared to the classic broccoli.

The "Rapa Catalonia" broccoletto from Roccasecca is listed by the Arsial Regione Lazio as one of the best agricultural and food products in Lazio.

The broccoletto festival is a successful event, which has become part of the city's identity. An unmissable event, expected throughout the year.

In the splendid setting of Via Roma, called Piazza Longa, on the occasion of the feast, dozens of stands are set up where you can find many traditional dishes, featuring Roccasecca broccoli.

Every activity in the historic center prepares a different dish and distributes it from his shop or from the stalls of the craft market. You can taste the traditional "frionza", the sfogliatella with broccoli, provola and sausage, lasagna with broccoli.

You can not miss the typical local sausage always accompanied by tasty vegetables. And yet other dishes of the typical Ciociaria gastronomy: roasted chestnuts, craft beer, new wine, dry desserts, sweet pancakes.

The party lasts all day until the evening, accompanied by live music from the tradition of central and southern Italy and by talented street artists.

On the occasion of the festival, it is possible to visit the Castle of the Counts of Aquino and attend the opening of a large nativity scene.
