Latera. Festival of Marrone of Latera

The last two weekends of October in Latera are dedicated to the Festival of Marrone of Latera- Sagra del Marrone, which celebrates the best autumn fruit of the Alta Tuscia woods.

But not only roasted chestnuts and mulled wine, the occasion of the festival is to make known the local products and the territory.

A small village on a hill not far from Lake Bolsena immersed in chestnut woods.

The Latera brown chestnut (Marrone) has a particular history and in the golden age of the Farnese family, the family that governed these territories.

It was forbidden to cut the chestnut trees that nourished with tasty chestnuts and made the air healthy.
