Sambuci. Feast of Saint Celsus and polenta festival

On the last Sunday of October, in Sambuci the patron saint Celsus is celebrated with religious ceremonies and with the festival of polenta with ribs and sausages.

Polenta is the peasant dish par excellence and was once the main food while today it has become rather an occasion for celebration.

The polenta is cooked in huge copper pots and stirred vigorously by hand according to the local traditions.
