On August 16, the sacred image is carried in procession through the streets of the town of Giuliano di Roma.
After the ceremony, in the square outside the church the loaves of bread (panuncegli) are blessed that have been prepared free of charge as a sign of devotion by some Giulianesi citizens. The loaves are then distributed to the faithful according to a centuries-old tradition.
The statue of San Rocco is seen represented in pilgrim's clothes showing his left thigh indicating the scourge of the plague, from which he suffered and from which he recovered, becoming the protector against this evil.
At his feet, there is a little dog with a loaf of bread in his mouth. According to tradition, this animal that saved him by licking his wounds and bringing daily bread.
