The Top Wine Producers in Serrone

There are three certified companies in Serrone that produce the delicious red wine Cesanese del Piglio DOCG and all are characterized by a strong link with the territory.

Their wine is a unique DOCG red wine in Lazio and because of the quality achieved by the producers, today the Cesanese del Piglio DOCG wine is found in the best tables and in the best restaurants.

The tradition goes way back. Legend has it that Caravaggio on the run from Rome had fled to Paliano and was a great admirer of this wine.

The Winery of Giovanni Terenzi was founded in the late 1950s by Giovanni and his wife Santa and continues with their three sons. In the 1990s, the jump in quality resulted in the decision to have labelled bottles with their own recognizability that has since brought their wines to various parts of the world.

The vineyard is located in the area of La Forma and has an area of approximately 12 hectares. Giovanni Terenzi winery uses the best production technology to accompany tradition while jealously keeping the secret of this wine.

The second traditional company is "Antiche Cantine Mario Terenzi", handed down from father to son, boasting a centenarian tradition. Today the brothers Emanuele and Paolo represent the fifth generation of winemakers.

Their business philosophy has always been oriented towards a perfect balance between ancient and modern: "It is precisely from the fusion of our traditions with the most modern technologies that creates our wines, the grapes for which come from traditionally cultivated vineyards, in full respect of nature and man ".

The third producer is the Rapillo farm which was completely renovated in 2000 through the conversion of the old vineyards to new plant and the modernization of the cellar.

The vines are all south-facing on a total area of 3 hectares and grow in tufaceous and limestone soil. Red wines, the most substantial portion, are obtained from the winemaking of Cesanese grapes.

Alongside the red wine production, Serrone winegrowers also produce excellent Passerina, the white wine of Ciociaria famous for its delicacy, making it a perfect wine for light meals.
