Spritz or wine? The answer is simple!
Spritz and wine are drunk at different times because they create different atmospheres with friends. Spritz is an ‘easy’ aperitif with little alcohol and is made with Prosecco, the famous traditional Italian bubbles, adding Aperol and soda. And above all ice!
Spritz can be taken before eating, and always in the company of friends, to stay cheerful. It is a pleasant start to events, but it is not used for eating because it is too sweet.
If we talk about wine, however, we enter a special world. Wine is culture. Each wine tells a different story, each grape variety tells of a unique territory.
Jennie was enchanted by the history of wine and we made her taste the differences between a traditional wine and a natural wine from local grape varieties.

But let's take it one step at a time.
For those who don't know wine, let's say right away that there are two types of vines: the international ones (Cabernet, Pinot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Merlot... which are grown everywhere in the world) and the native ones that are typical of particular areas.
And this is the story of our area, Paliano and the Ciociaria region, and its connection with Cesanese DOCG. The Cesanese vine has a very ancient history: some say it was planted by the ancient Romans, others say it was the vine brought from Asia by Benedictine monks. In both cases we are talking about centuries of history.
Cesanese is the only DOCG (Denomination of Origin has been inspected and Guaranteed) red wine in our region, and this gives an idea of its importance.
The second thing to know when approaching the world of wine is the way in which the vine is grown (we grow organically) and in which the wine is made. In fact, many low-cost wines are made by adding yeasts that give flavor or other chemical compounds.
At Donna Vittori we make wine naturally, that is, without added yeasts. The fermentation of the grapes and their natural transformation take place with the yeasts that are naturally on the grape skin: they are those found in the cellar, and we do not add anything. This wine does not cause headaches or nausea but is a pleasant accompaniment to the meal.
This pleasantness is then found in the taste in the mouth, and our wines Lettera (the Cesanese DOCG) and Clea (the Lazio Rosso IGT) are a pleasure to the palate. They express aromas of cherry and berries, have an aftertaste of vanilla and pepper that comes from the passage in oak barrels and are an explosion of flavors on the palate.

There is another interesting story for natural wines: the labels!!
Those who choose to make natural wines are people who love their territory and who are happy with what they do. This joy is also expressed in their labels which are always colorful, cheerful and tell of a passion.
We love animals and we chose to represent two of our great loves: Lettera the horse and Clea the dog. Clea is special and creates unique bonds with each one of us, even with Jennie and the whole crew, but I will tell you about that in a future story.
