Thursday 16 March was a day full of interesting events and initiatives and our editorial team split in two: Claudia Bettiol went to Radio Radio with the delegate for tourism of the Metropolitan Area of Rome Alessia Pieretti (another article talks about their speech on root tourism) while Maria Vittori attended the BMT in Naples to talk about the Town Ambassador Award.
An event inaugurated by a beautiful speech by the tourism minister Daniela Santanchè: “I want to listen to those who work, today the music has changed, we are here. There has never been a government so attentive to tourism. We are more beautiful than our competitors, but we must also become better at it".
And we want to believe it together with all the operators in the sector. The ceremony was also attended by the Councilor for Tourism of the Campania Region Felice Casucci, the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi, the managing director of Enit Ivana Jelinic and the administrator of Progecta, Angioletto de Negri.
The 2023 edition of the b2b exchange reserved for tourism professionals saw the presence of 400 exhibitors, 10,500 accredited operators, 150 buyers, 12 regions and 26 participating countries, 220 journalists.
But we didn't go as exhibitors or buyers, but as promoters of initiatives aimed at encouraging the bridge with third and fourth generation emigrants located in America, Canada and Australia. The day saw several personalities linked to the theme of "tourism of the roots" gather in a round table and address various issues and problems.

The main theme of the meeting was "Lazio, Experiences between Villages and Paths" coordinated by Luigi Franceschi and Virgilio Gay both of the Lazio Regional Committee coordination of Rete Destinazione Sud. And in the first panel focused on welcoming our foreign descendants the Mary's Intervention:
“With the Town Ambassador Award we decided to have fun. It is an award that celebrates the love of these people not only towards our country of origin and the Italian spirit but also the deep bond with their small town, their village.
The TAA celebrates characters who have never stopped loving their origins and who have fought to keep or find them again. People who have kept the bridge between the two communities alive through the organization of events, cultural exchanges, donations, communities on social networks… and we want to thank these figures!”
Maria continues: “It is not only a way to get together but also a means for the internationalization of our companies. Imagine a denser migratory flow in small villages. Small local tourism would explode with requests!”
We at the Town Ambassador Award want to be a tool of communication between the new foreign generations with Italian origins (those who are driven by the stories of their grandparents) and our local young people who must be ready to welcome them.
I would write hours on this topic. But to create bridges between the new generations who are forgetting their origins, we have devised a television format aimed at fun, games, challenges between the two communities in a comic key. It is “Felicita Back Home”, the daughter of Claudia Bettiol's many innovative ideas.
Until next time! We continue to wander through the villages and discover beautiful people full of love who are just waiting to be involved in projects for the growth of their village.
