Only yesterday at a meeting of Slow Food Ciociaria and the Cesanese Land I had gathered the admiration of small producers on how much Ciociaria had grown in recent years and is increasingly establishing itself as a brand.
In my opinion, there are two catalysts for this entrepreneurial and cultural renaissance: the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Unicas) and the Frosinone Calcio team.
The first with the education of a generation of professionals, entrepreneurs and cultural operators and the second with a renewed image of victory (in sport) and fair play of the fans.
So, with great pride today I went to moderate the presentation day of Unicas in the orientation days for students of last year high schools in Frosinone.
There were two presentation sections, one on humanistic studies and one on technological and economic ones. And despite my civil engineering education (and PhD in engineering management) I asked to moderate the humanities presentation.
Thanks to my daughter's university choices, I got to know this world and with my work as a publisher and promoter of local development, I understood how strategic these figures can be if trained in love for the territory with an entrepreneurial vision. And this is what Unicas has been doing for years with attention to local roots but an eye to the world.
As a good engineer I arrived early, as a good engineer the rector Marco Dell'Isola also arrived early and so our diligence allowed us time to go to the bar for a coffee and exchange some ideas for future collaborations.
The room was filled with a powerful youthful energy and the rector opened the day with some incredible data: “the University of Cassino has 38 study courses and is the 4th in Italy for number of foreign students and internationalization, we have some courses that have double degrees with foreign universities.
We have a student/professor ratio that guarantees high quality education, but what is important is entrepreneurship training for all students, the soft skills that allow them to be competitive and win".
And that's not all, Unicas participates in ITS and trains professionals both in the field of audiovisual shows and in technology, always alongside the industries of our territory and beyond.
For students, even the satisfaction of a sports center among the best in Italy and a theater group that promotes art and teaches interpersonal communication and mastery of space.
Alongside the professors who presented their faculties, a valuable presence was that of Miriam Diurni, president of Unindustria Frosinone and delegate at national level, who clearly illustrated the job opportunities in our area.
At the end we received the Unicas medal (which I have now proudly placed on my desk) and the pleasure of having contributed, even for a little while, to the growth of the children and our land.
