Wine Cesanese del Piglio DOCG
Wine Cesanese del Piglio DOCG

Serrone is part of the Cesanese del Piglio DOCG wine area. Cesanese is a red grape wine whose vine is traced back to the Romans who had villas here and grew grapevines and olive trees for wine and oil.

The name Cesanese seems to derive from the Latin verb 'cesa', i.e. cutting, because the Romans had cleared the area to allow the cultivation of vines.

The exposure of the vineyards on the south slopes of Mount Scalambra and protection by the mountains make this area particularly suited to an excellent wine production.

From the sunny vineyards of Sgurgola has been born a tasty wine produced by Thomas Spaziani, a winemaker who loves his country and its traditions.

The wine has the ancient name of the town, Sculca, and the label shows a fresco that is located on a spring in the centre.
