Dec 8 Cesanese Lifestyle: Art, Wine, Food

We are once again in our local area and excited by the Cesanese Lifestyle. This time the event is organized by the Cantina Sociale of Piglio which inaugurates its new classifications with an art exhibition by the masters Piero Ricci, Raffaella Manca and Agostino Russo.

Saturday will be the first of a series of shows that will highlight this event dedicated to Art, Wine and Food and will be hosted in the premises of the Cantina Sociale until the 6th of January.

The 'Cesanese Lifestyle' is made up of the three great treasures of our area: artists who can read and interpret the human soul by celebrating the deep feelings on whimsy, the wines of the producers of the Cesanese del Piglio DOCG wine that are being appreciated in Italy and abroad and quality food. This consists of a Slow Food Convivium (Banquet) of the Cesanese area and will be interpreted by chefs and restaurateurs of the Cesanese territories.

The day of December 8 starts at 5.00 pm with the inauguration and presentation of the artists and their works and displays. It continues at 17.30 with the popular music of the Hernicantus, a group that has devoted a lot of time to the rediscovery of all the traditional music of this corner of Ciociaria.

It ends at 6.30 pm with a buffet in which local products will be presented and where the wines of the Cesanese DOCG producers will be tasted. Both local products and wines will then be put on sale at the sales point of the society winery, which will have a new look as a showcase of local products for the occasion.

The head of the buffet will be the Pompeo chef from Vicolo Fatato of Piglio, a cooking show organized by Terre Sane, which cultivates ancient grains like Senatore Cappelli and produces an excellent pasta. The master of the cured meats is Fausto Minori from his Norcineria (pork meats) shop in Serrone, which offers porchetta and prosciutto cooked with herbs.

With this event the Cantina Sociale once again plays its active role being a leading promoter of the 'Cesanese Lifestyle'. And we will be at its side.
Saturday at 5.00 pm in the Cantina Sociale of Piglio.

Dec 7: Heavenly music in Fiuggi

A surprise at every turn, this was the excitement that greeted us once we had crossed the threshold of the library door of Fiuggi to join the audience for a concert of classical music.

I have listened to a lot of classical music but I could not understand the style of these melodies: they seemed to be a marriage between Ciociaria and something else I did not understand.

The three musicians involved who performed with a particular serenity the pieces were Olena Kurchina, a Ukrainian mandolinist, Alessandro Maziotti, who played zampogna and flutes, and Benito Talone, the guitarist and also the son of the composer.

In fact, the music was written by 'Federicuccio' Talone, a strange character born in 1897 and belonging to that generation of boys who fought the First World War.

Federico Talone had been taken prisoner in Austria and for his musical gifts he had been told to play for the orchestra to excite the  officers to dance.

The dance music was polke, mazurke and waltz and then Federico learned these rhythms and harmony. But not only. In the orchestra there were other musicians from other countries, from as far as Scotland and Russia, and everyone brought something of his own tradition.

Once back home, Federico began composing music like the 'Mazurka di Montefortino' (the ancient name of Artena) creating his own musical style, the result of improbable interpretations.

The effect was absolutely unique, not just pleasant and the quality of the musicians has made everything even more exciting.

Thanks to Daniele Baldassarre for his invitation and for the work that for years has lead to the enhancement of all the excellence of our territories.

Nov 29: Rocca Priora Business Network

The Rocca Priora Business Network enters the schools with our 'Tourism among desks' program.

The territorial animation of Rocca Priora also passes through a sensitization to tourism among school children. We will do workshops in which we will try to involve children's families to make them more and more attentive to the socio-economic transformation of this beautiful town of the Castelli Romani.

Nov 24: We are in Chile!

Our guide to Rocca Priora has arrived in Chile thanks to the tozzetto biscuits of Rocca Priora produced by Paolo Tuccio - an enlightened businessman as well as a good pastry chef.

To push his customers to buy more and to retain those who appreciate his specialties, Paolo decided to send a copy of his town's guide as a gift.

We are happy with his choice and from the photos they published on social media I would say that the experiment was very successful!!

Nov 24: do you know Massimiliano Massimi?

He is the author of one of the most beautiful books that should be made obligatory to all the boys: "The difficult Art of realizing their Dreams".

He defines himself as an educator, but it is little and does not make the emotions felt during his performances. He speaks of managerial skills using the great philosophers of the past and transports us into a dimension of thought that belongs to us but which we often neglect.

In my opinion Massimiliano Massimi is one of the greatest 'storytellers' with a property to create images with words that is rare.

We go there and give ourselves two hours of absolute pleasure in the heart, in the spirit and in the intellect.

The appointment is Saturday 24 November at 4.30 pm at the La Polledrara farmhouse, a magical setting with a superb cuisine and the collaboration of 'Slow Food Territories of Cesanese'.

The other dates? Come and discover or follow the Fb page of Street Philosophy.

Nov 23: Dinner at the Rugby Museum

Before the friendly match of the All Blacks against the Azzurri and to honour the display of a 1905 All Blacks jersey, the Museum organized a warm dinner in its exhibition halls.

We found Stephen Berg, the director of the New Zealand All-Blacks Museum, who did not leave his 1905 jersey unwatched for as long as he was in Italy.

A delegation from the mayor of Toyota in Japan that joined us was very interesting. The Rugby World Cup will be played there next year and they are interested in offering a space for the Museum of Rugby Mud and Sweat to mount an exhibition of some of its rare and special pieces.

It is always a joy to return to these halls and follow the museum in its splendid growth.
