Nov 22: University of Tourism in Tor Vergata

An afternoon at the faculty of Tourism for a seminar on "Collaborative marketing, co-marketing and business networks between operators of tourism, agriculture, catering in the municipalities of Lazio".

It all stemmed from the assignment of the responsibility for tourism to the Minister of Agriculture and a new way of perceiving tourism. It puts the tourist at the centre with his needs and aspirations that are increasingly connected to the experiences with food.

In order to be attractive, a territory needs cooperation among all its operators.

Prof. Nicolò Costa, coordinator of the Degree in Tourism Sciences at University of Rome Tor Vergata, moderated the debate. While Giorgio de Rossi, Roma Tor Vergata University, spoke about the experience of business networks between agriculture and tourism and how to improve public tenders.

Speakers were Carlo La Rotonda, Business Networks Confindustria, Sara Paraluppi, Director of the Regional Coldiretti of Lazio, Claudio Dell'Accio Network Manager - Italian Inbound Networks, Marco Misischia Cna Tourism, Giuseppe Mammetti Arsial, representatives of industry and local authorities.

At the end of our short presentation we were invited to take part in the university program.

Great satisfaction!!

Nov 21: A visit to the ANCI LAZIO headquarters

A beautiful day in the centre of Rome to visit the headquarters of Anci Lazio, the section of the National Association of Italian Municipalities that deals with the protection and promotion of our towns.

It is a challenging but also a complex task with the cuts to funds that the municipalities have suffered in recent years. An important challenge is to help all municipalities, but especially children, to create a true professionalism linked to tourism.

Tourism in smaller centres, outside the big cities that are overbooked, certainly represents an opportunity that must be recognised and seized.

Nov 18: Interview with Corrado Mattoccia

A beautiful Sunday spent at the Museum of Rugby Mud and Sweat of Artena with Corrado Mattoccia, his son Enrico and other collaborators who were setting up the exhibition dedicated to an All Blacks shirt of 1905. The shirt came directly from New Zealand with Stephen Berg, Director of the All Blacks Museum, who is now a friend of the Artena museum.

Upon arrival, we welcomed a couple of tourists from Viterbo who came especially to visit this museum which is perhaps the largest in the world and which was recognized by the Italian Rugby Federation.

Ad Maiora!

Nov 17-18: In San Vincenzo Vecchio with Scorrendo con il liri

For once we go out of the Lazio Region but this is the closing event of 2018 of the cycle of manifestations of ScorrendoconilLiri.

Obviously San Vincenzo Vecchio is located along the path of the most famous ultramarathon in Italy that follows the course of the river Liri from its birth to the falls of Isola del Liri and then continue until its conjunction with the Garigliano.

A weekend between oil mills with samples of oil and the famous Abruzzese cuisine in Valle Rovereto.

And between a bruschetta and a roast we decide what to combine next year. Meanwhile, we have yet to receive a delegation of the winners of the literary competition who will be drafting for a lesson in story telling the territories and for editing their work in preparation for the translation and publication on our portal discoverplaces.travel

Nov 16: Institute of Tourism Livia Bottardi

We started the program "Tourism between the desks" with a seminar at the Livia Bottardi Institute of Tourism in Rome. Everything starts with a great teacher with whom last year we had done a school-work alternation program for her students.

Do you see to sow well?

Then the fruits are collected and when the teacher was transferred from Palestrina to Rome we continued the collaboration.

We have proposed a live survey using a program and an App. We need to communicate with these digital generations using their language!

A beautiful experience and we will meet again soon in a village where students have to try to simulate a widespread hotel and get in touch with tourists.

Nov 11: Photowalking in Castel di Tora

A sunny Sunday immersed in the warmth of autumn, in the company of our friends from Yallers Lazio for a special photowalk in the picturesque village of Castel di Tora, a village in the province of Rieti, one of the most photographed because of its particular position overlooking the clear lake of the Turano.

A morning excursion in the ruins of the castle of Antuni, lunch with traditional products all strictly homemade and 'Km0' and then dulcis at the end of a boat ride at sunset on Lake Turano to admire Castel di Tora and the nearby town of Colle di Tora.

We have made many photos and it will be difficult to choose from among them, Rieti is a province of many facets yet to be discovered!

Nov 10-11: "The Fair for Pro Loco" in Pomezia

Could we miss it? We follow the activities of the Pro Loco for months every Thursday with our newsletter. We tell of their festivals, their functions and activities.

But, also we note when rain postpones events and creates misfortune.

We go to these festivals to take pictures for publishing, eat the typical dishes of local traditions and live with them in the joy of discovering ‘unknown’ villages, jewels that deserve to be known.

Local festivals and feasts, but also religious processions, have a particular evocative power and represent the Italian lifestyle experience that many foreigners seek in our country.

Surely then, come to this fair to professionalize the Pro Loco, because if the festivals are organized with greater care and good communication then they can be catalysts of a local economy linked to tourism.

And in the process of growth, improved communication must play an important role because today it is often limited to the posters that are published a week or two before the event. A poster can serve to remind people who in some way already are in contact with us but it cannot be a good tourism catalyst nor a way to get people excited.

Stories are the way to express positive emotions by Pro Loco and those who take part in their festivals. We need stories written from the heart but also knowing the techniques of writing for the web.

And we need stories written in other languages because millions of foreign tourists are just waiting to be invited to share with them the excitement of a festival in Italy!

Our involvement at the 'National Events Fair' will be on Saturday afternoon and we will have a table where we can tell you what we do and where you can subscribe to our newsletter.
