Nov 10: Pippo Franco at the International Proloco Fair

A meeting to say the least surprising that surprised us positively. A chat about the role of villages in Italian culture and their tourism potential: if well managed they can be a fundamental element of socio-economic presidium of our communities.

A work that starts from identity and Pippo Franco has told some of his personal experiences in the emotional narration of some Italian villages and an association of honey producers.

He came to visit us at our stand and we exchanged constructive ideas. Long live the Pro Loco and live the Villages!

Carpineto-Romano-Caldarrosta-REDUX-4.jpg

A weekend of celebrations dedicated to the fruit of Castagna, or Callarrosta, the undisputed queen of autumn, in one of the most picturesque villages of Lepini, Carpineto Romano.

A festival to say the least engaging, made in part by the spirit of Carpinetani that take to the streets every time and above all love their country to madness, but also by the various shows and the kindness of exhibitors present who, for the occasion, have dressed their stand with the most varied food and wine products, lots chestnut themed and many others a bit 'special' such as the spreadable beer, which we honestly had never come to know but we are pleased to have now done so.

After these two days of celebration, how could we never return when the opportunity arises again? An experience that we recommend to anyone who wants to spend an evening in the company of good food, great traditions and beautiful people, strangers or not! To close, we quote the words of a friend from Carpineto, who once it came to a certain time, and the fourth bag of chestnuts, told us "when we celebrate in Carpineto Romano we do not come back home before six o'clock the next day", we are sorry admit that they were right.

Oct 28: "Tourism among Desks" in Vico nel Lazio

On this day we officially start the programme "Tourism among desks" with the elementary schools of Vico, a programme that we have designed to make each town known from a different perspective. And maybe we can find future entrepreneurs who want to work in this tourism sector that currently represents more than 12% of national GDP.

The setting of the festival of the environment and sustainability is perfect to talk about tourism that can represent the future of small communities in Lazio and other regions. Villages rich in history such as Vico nel Lazio, with natural landscapes of incredible beauty, with festivals having centuries-old traditions and a cuisine that the whole world envies.

Good luck to us and to the students of Vico nel Lazio!

Oct 27 Cesanese Lifestyle: "Meetings and Tales of the Lands of Cesanese"

Food and wine tourism is growing strongly and can be one of the factors for the next socio-economic growth of a whole territory. There is an opportunity in all areas where particular vines are grown and wines, already protected by brands and recognized by experts, are produced.

The case of the Terre del Cesanese area, where vines that produce the excellent DOC and DOCG red wines are grown, is emblematic for the growth in recent years of the quality of the wine and the reception of the cellars.

The area protected by the brands includes towns of incredible charm such as Anagni with its crypt considered the 'Sistine Chapel of the Middle Ages', Piglio with the charm of the traditions of wine, the community winery and the festivals, Acuto with the medieval village and the presence of a international chef, Affile with its mountains, Serrone with one of the most enchanted villages and paragliding flights from Mount Scalambra, Paliano with its park, fortress and its palio, Olevano Romano with its historic link with Northern Europe born during the Grand Tour and Genazzano with its incredible castle that has become a center of contemporary art.

And then we could mention the towns in the surrounding areas such as Fiuggi, Subiaco, Gavignano and Segni.

In the Ceranese area you can practice practically every sport, from horse riding to free flight, from golf to swimming, from MTB to football, and go from walks for amateurs in the paths between the villages or go trekking in the mountains to Campo Catino and the Simbruini Mountains.

You can relax in the Fiuggi Spa and cleanse your body with its famous water. The richness of gastronomy is a particular treat and it is not by chance that many chefs propose a menu of traditional dishes using only local products.

What is missing? Perhaps a direction who promotes the awareness that quality wins and that it creates a better identity for all.

fieracavalli-REDUX-2.jpg

How could we miss? We followed Fieracavalli in its Summer Tour and now we're going to celebrate its 120 years with her. A young girl!
Thanks to the exhibition 'Cavalli, a family passion', we had the opportunity to meet some of its representatives and we were dazzled by the space it is dedicating to equestrian tourism and the promotion of minor places. In line with our philosophy of telling stories of special people and unknown places.
We met in Atina during the Summer Tour and started telling the stories of the protagonists, from the butteri, of the knights and breeders of the Tolfetano, of Cottanello horse to the Associazione Cavalieri of the Tratturi of the Valle di Comino.
We met many artists and we followed them at the Roman Carnival in a crescendo of emotions. And now let's go in person to celebrate its 120 years and prepare for the next season of equestrian tourism.

Oct 21 Colleferro: inauguration of the multimedia market

Colleferro is evolving towards big cities where food not only becomes culture but it is an opportunity to broaden the concept of culture. Such as? Turning a traditional municipal market into a polycultural centre.

The life of the open markets has changed in recent years under the pressure of supermarkets but also with the lifestyle of people. Since the markets are mainly in the morning when most people work, it was natural for a decline in the public and an aging of customers.

But if this market structure can become a centre where you can also enjoy dishes made with the products of the market, where you can listen to music or organize events and, above all, if it is open at other times such as the afternoon or evening, then we are sure that it will be a seed of cultural change.

It can represent a starting point for a different way of understanding culture as something that surrounds our whole life: culture of dining, music, literature and even architecture. This is why the market has also been revaluated in its architectural form as an example of rationalist architecture by engineer Riccardo Morandi, one of the leaders of the development of Colleferro as a City of Foundation.

Oct 21 Colleferro: culture in the province!

I was at the theatre in Colleferro to see my niece acting. A small teenager who loves music with clear ideas that culture will be the illuminating beacon of her life.

I was expecting a show of teenagers from a music school that performed something like a recital by its students. But I was wrong.

I found myself in front of real professionals. The orchestra on the stage sounded divine and the actors had 'fallen' into their parts and conveyed appropriate emotions to the audience. Their movements were natural and there was nothing to reveal their young age but the appearance of some young members who still looked like little girls.

Some actors were also required to sing and their lyrical voices were strongly expressive while also performing technically challenging parts.

The scenography was superb. The rooms were presented with few furnishings and a screen on which were projected some artistic images of furniture, which gave the idea of a room that was lived in on stage but that let the imagination of the audience fantasise.

I was absolutely surprised and more and more convinced that culture today is alive in the provinces. That we have nothing more to envy to the great capital and that if we were slightly more professional in the promotion and communication of these performances we could really make our provincial centres alive thanks to culture and, consequently, thanks to the expanding tourism.

I forgot to mention: the musical school is the Ars Nova academy based in Ferentino and Colleferro, and the unpublished work  was "Don Quixote ... the courage of madness". My niece is Raffaella Iannone: a determined young woman!
