The whole district comes to Paliano the evening of San Rocco to enjoy the magnificent fireworks. Half an hour of fiery explosions, which etch shapes and colours in the sky that enchant the audience every year.

We were all on the wall, faces tilted upwards to watch the sky after having dinner in the cellars of the historic centre where the Contrade of Paliano have competed to attract visitors. We have chosen the Contrada Cimate-San Procolo.

Perhaps we are biased?

An event, which for us is a tradition that improves its winning formula every year: excellent wines, samples of local products and exciting music. This year the event’s director was 'La Botte Piccola', a jewel of a wine bar that opened right in the heart of the historic centre.

A wine bar, but with a peculiar story: its wine selection is sourced only from wineries, which in addition to producing an excellent wine, pursue their ethical dream.

Among these are producers such as Concreta that hire people with disabilities, or others that have converted to organic and biodynamic production.

A holistic delight: food, music, friends and good wine. This year saw two groups of popular music of the highest level, ERRE6 and Parquaria, together with a Jazz group selected by the great expert Luca Pierron.

Have you ever participated in the thrill of tasting wheat in the fields, of watching people who decide when to harvest and then observed the threshing ritual?

We did it twice: the first time, the wheat was not ready, but were rewarded on the second occasion to watch the thresher doing its work.

It is not just any grain, but an ancient variety called Senatore Cappelli that the Terre Sane cooperative has decided to cultivate again in marginal areas. Many small plots of land owned by members are back to being cultivated with selected productions.

A landscape that returns to being a pleasant and harmonious, with happy people doing something positive for everyone. Their pasta has achieved real excellence.

Eventually everyone eats a slice of fresh watermelon under the pergola.

A beautiful village that should be the discovery emblem of Ciociaria’s treasures. However, it still has not taken off in the right direction. Anagni has everything but has lived too many years as one of the most important industrial centres of Lazio and still has not changed its mentality.

A country in transition, but one of the most beautiful that you can imagine. Hidden treasures that can satisfy any art lover, historical and cultural events such as the Medieval Theatre Festival which are real jewels. And then you have the Cesanese wine and a cuisine that blends tradition and modernity.

Anagni’s alleys in bloom were a real surprise and invite you to get lost in the narrow streets of the centre to discover the heart of this jewel. Thanks are due to an association that for 10 years has been promoting the culture of flowers in the historic centre and that has succeeded perfectly in its purpose.

What is it that attracts the world’s best organists to take part in an international musical event in a tiny village in the Lepini Mountains? Rocca Massima is the most elevated village in the province of Latina, perched on a rock spur. About 20 years ago, a few inhabitants began to think about how the village could become well known and attract new visitors. They settled on two ways: one based on culture and one on fun.

The village commissioned and built a special organ from a well-known company and created an International Organ Festival. So, we went to experience this emotion as spectators.

On the other side there is Fly in the Sky, the longest cable car ride in Europe. It’s Over 1,200 meters of ride in the sky starting from Rocca Massima city centre, landing among the olive trees below.

The best festival for tourists of Ciociaria. An event that should immediately start to promote abroad as an opportunity to visit these territories that contain art treasures.

But not only, they are territories that have an excellent cuisine with high quality products and within the festival the stands were selected in order to offer the local food and wine specialties.

In reality their name is Association of Breeders of the Tolfetano Horse of Cottanello, a long name to indicate a group of friends who have set two ideas: the Tolfetano horse and the ancient Italian traditions of horse breeding.

Everything starts from Cottanello, a small but charming village of Sabina, not far from Rieti, where the tradition of animal breeding was strong.

These friends present themselves with a typical Italian pock-style dress with green trousers and gilet, and on horses they use Italian saddles made in Tolfa and by a local craftsman. Each of them has a small and long stick that has often been handed down to him by his grandparents.

We took a thousand photos and soon we will select them.

Three days of incredible equestrian shows and three days with tastings of the best products of Valle di Comino and Ciociaria. From morning to night in 4 different areas of the Atina Equestrian Center there were western riding shows, jumping competitions, attacks races, presentation of Lazio horses and shows with equestrian artists.

Beside sport and nature, a series of stands offered the best of local productions. Only selected products that had passed the selection of the organizers to make this event a tourist reference appointment.
