Marche-Senigallia-by-Claudia-Bettiol-6-1024x768.jpeg

Life is all a surprise so between a skipped dinner and a ride by car from a friend we arrived in Senigallia. In a hotel right in front of the fantastic Rotonda sul Mare sung by Fred Buongusto.

On the one hand I would have liked to take a better picture than that of Nando Potenti (but this is rather difficult) and on the other I happened to visit the most sustainable plant in Italy, Bagni 77.

I witnessed the simultaneous closure of all the umbrellas thanks to a device powered by solar energy.

A bit like seeing the changing of the guard ... same emotion while waiting. An interesting dinner of Neapolitan cuisine and I would have liked to take a stroll in the swan on the water, but I am no longer 6 years old and they have not admitted me.

Senigallia is to be explored, but the welcome in the hotel leaves something to be desired. How can you be at breakfast, ask if I can have an 'American coffee' and receive an answer from a frowning gentleman: 'no, but I will.'

I think there is a great need for a 'friend of the tourist' reception school. Instead the taxi driver was very nice. But from Bologna.

Marche-Pesaro-by-Claudia-Bettiol-8-1024x768.jpeg

If you go to the Marche region you must sleep at least once as a dwarf at the Alexander Palace Museum Hotel in Pesaro.

Each room made by a different artist.

Tonight we slept in that call "Wind" created by Luisa Valentini. Open windows and the sound of the sea that cradled us.

In the morning with Nani on the radio for an interview on the vice minister's statements on the situation of catering and reception operators!

Nani is always a great and a pleasure to listen to his lucid response to the crises.

The only drawback… in the morning someone leaves for Rome with the car keys !!

Now we have to take the list of friends from Pesaro and ask for help !!!

Meanwhile, we will try to complete our tour in the Marche.

Marche-Urbino-by-Claudia-Bettiol-5-1024x768.jpeg

We arrive in Urbino for a dinner on tourism in the Marche region and one more vote we are kidnapped by the city. It is almost all available to us. Few foreign tourists and Italians who still work and don't move.

Magica. All ours.

Bricks everywhere and the towers of the Doge's Palace and like rockets are projected towards the sky.

The charm of the Duke of Montefeltro continues for centuries to govern this city that continues to enchant.

The best of the Italian Renaissance, more intimate and profound than that of Florence. And it is no coincidence that the Marche hills are the ones that inspired Leopardi.

A few graduation parties around the premises with students who have resumed public graduation sessions.

Posters on the 500th anniversary of Raphael's birth and a particular exhibition dedicated to children ... Ah, still be 10 years old!

And then ... Crescia and Verdicchio ... and truffle ravioli!

15 July: Radio Radio features Cantalice on its “Amico Comune” series

This Thursday we talked about Cantalice perched in the splendid Province of Rieti, together with its Mayor Paola Patacchiola!

Cantalice is an ancient village, rich in history and charm, over the years it has become a great reference point for hikers and walkers looking for adventure and relaxation, also for its proximity to the Lungo and Ripasottile lakes. The village is also a fundamental stop for lovers of religious paths, being inserted on the path of the Way of San Francesco, a great "visitor" to the Sabina. The saint, patron saint of Italy, is said to have stayed in the village of Greccio where he created the first representation of the nativity in the world.

Cantalice is also the birthplace of one of the first Capuchin Saints, San Felice da Cantalice. The food and wine traditions are very important for the Province of Reatina, and every year the typical dishes and products are celebrated such as the strengozze and the precious black truffles with great festivals and events that involve the whole of Sabina.

Religion, folklore and taste make this country a stop not to be missed for those who want to discover the spirit of ancient Sabina and its characters.

A village that we look forward to seeing again, and that in the meantime you can get to know with our Cantalice Tourist Guide.

We continue our journey to discover the most beautiful and interesting villages of Lazio with our weekly appointment together with Radio Radio and ANCI Lazio, in the broadcast "Amico Comune", where every Thursday talk about a town of the Lazio Region together with its Mayor.

9 July: Radio Radio features Micigliano on its “Amico Comune” series

This Thursday we talked about Micigliano, one of the smallest villages in Lazio, in the green heart of the Province of Rieti, together with its Mayor Emiliano Salvati!

Small, but no less interesting! Micigliano keeps intact all the characteristics of an Italian village, rich in traditions and immersed in an ancient territory. From the streets of the historic center, to the popular festivals that bring together its inhabitants on great festive days.

Its proximity to Monte Terminillo, makes it a perfect point for a stop to discover the many curiosities that are found within the Municipality, such as the perfectly preserved (and functioning) water mill, and the myriad of food and wine delicacies of the territory such as chestnut beer and fine mountain truffles.

A town that we look forward to visiting again, and that in the meantime you can get to know with our Tourist Guide of Micigliano.

25 June: Radio Radio features Sperlonga on its “Amico Comune” series

This Thursday we spoke to the mayor of Sperlonga Armando Cusani , a spectacular town in the province of Latina with ancient history, a holiday home for the Roman emperors and today the cradle of breathtaking historical evidence!

The Blue Flag of the Wonder Coast! We have had the pleasure of visiting Sperlonga on several occasions, and for us it embodies the beauty and spirit of the "Lazio sea".

Walking on its beaches becomes a real walk in history, from the Roman Villa of Tiberius and its archaeological area to the much-photographed Torre Truglia. Sperlonga is an experience, from the historic center down, to be observed at least once from the perspective of the Tiberius Cave.

A village that we look forward to visiting again, and that in the meantime you can get to know with our Tourist Guide of Sperlonga.

Whoever comes to Ascoli is enchanted and returns there

A nice chat with the mayor Marco Fioravanti of Ascoli Piceno to learn more about this splendid city with one of the most beautiful squares in Italy: Piazza del Popolo. The white of the travertine, combined with the welcome from Ascoli, creates one of the most photographed squares in the world and used in many promotional campaigns in our country abroad.

An interview that was born thanks to the participation of the Municipality of Ascoli Piceno in the #IlFuturoNelleNostreRadici contest that we launched to make our villages and cities known.

An adhesion strongly desired by the mayor Marco Fioravanti himself and by the councilor for tourism Monica Acciarri, to let the citizens tell all the peculiarities of Ascoli Piceno. And from this interview we have discovered many.

Some know Ascoli Piceno for its achievements in football, others for the Giostra della Quintana, others for its architecture and perhaps all for the famous Ascoli olives. But the city is something more, and perhaps it is all these things together in a truly original way.

You cannot think of coming to Ascoli Piceno for one reason only: there are thousands of them that justify the trip. In addition to the proximity to the coast and the panorama of the Marche landscape, which alone creates a state of well-being in each of us, Ascoli is protected by the Sibillini and Gran Sasso mountains and the Monti della Laga.

Nature and architecture are combined in a unique way.

Ascoli Piceno has its history in its name. The Piceni, an ancient people represented by a woodpecker, which I have not yet understood if it is the name of a king or if it is the mythical bird connected to Mars that led them from Sabina, in Lazio.

The Romans respected them a lot to the point of giving the Piceno name to this region, but they made themselves respected.

When they did not feel respected enough, the Romans destroyed Ascoli and then rebuilt it more beautiful. A city connected by the Via Salaria that had baths, theater, temples and a lot of life.

But above all a real pearl:

"A Roman bridge over the Tronto river that has an arch with an incredible height of 25 meters and can be visited inside. One of the few examples in the world that allows this visit ".

The mayor is obviously in love with his city and is working on its promotion:

"The Middle Ages and the Renaissance have created a unique architecture and a style that makes Ascoli Piceno recognized as one of the capitals of Italian culture. Those who arrive at Piazza del Popolo can experience what we call the 'WOW effect' (which was once called Stendhal's Syndrome).

There are no words in the face of the beauty of our city and the authenticity of our traditions that you can breathe while walking in the center, entering a restaurant or visiting one of the companies and cellars where our typical products are produced ".

We will also have to talk about the Giostra della Quintana, but let's wait a little longer to see if and how this year's edition can be organized.

In the meantime, please, we are waiting for stories for the contest that involve memories, recipes, tales and funny stories. In this way we will be able to make Ascoli Piceno more known and invite people to come and visit you.

And maybe the true story of the Oliva Ascolana.
