5 May: The Tourist Guide of Paliano, an English and history lesson

The roots need no translation, the story does!
A beautiful message came to us from school this morning…. of Paliano, where the young Alessandro Cazzador together with his virtual English class carried out a lesson together with his companions to discover their country, Paliano, with the help of our Tourist Guide published in two languages. Alessandro and his companions have now consumed this book, and we are pleased to see that even the little ones encouraged by their families and their school join together throughout Italy in our #ilfuturonellenostreradici campaign.
Small citizens who do great things!

2 May: Interview with l’Invitato Speciale for #Ilfuturonellenostreradici (#TheFutureInOurRoots)

It takes a special guest for a special interview!

Our Claudia Bettiol was a guest on the live webcast of the Special Guest. A knowledge that I had the pleasure of doing during the Cavalli event in Rome in February 2020.

We talked about the future of small villages, which with this health emergency are thought to be the next great resource, not only for tourism in the coming years, but for the restart of our businesses.

We have been aiming at small villages for 6 years now, when we started our work of promotion and cultural enhancement of our smaller territories.

Now in this period of emergency we have realized that we all need a home, not so much physical as emotional. We need to rediscover where we come from, the little things that differentiate us, the traditions that accompany us in everyday life.

This is why we must start from the roots, that common thread that binds each of us Italians to something bigger. The love for a land, for a people, and for a small country that we carry in our hearts.

29-30 April: UnicaOrienta and Unicas Career Day

Two days of meetings together at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio to help students in their orientation and to present the best companies in the area.

This year the days were all held on the web and the pandemic did not stop the University's activity which proved to be among the most innovative in Italy.

Orientation in the morning and meetings with companies in the afternoon. And we were in the closing ceremony to interview the rector Giovanni Betta, the pro rector Francesco Ferrante and other prestigious guests such as Francesco di Costanzo of PA Social and Alessandro Silvestri of the Cassino Graduate Association who was also the organizer.

We with Claudia Bettiol were the moderators of this session of reflections from which it emerged how the remote formula presented some advantages. We have made a technological leap from which we will not go back and now it is time to rethink and to give entire production sectors an innovative leap.

Over 2000 CV of students and one over 2,500 people who have been connected for over two hours every day. These are the significant numbers of the two days of presentation of Unicas opportunities and local businesses.

24 April: AMBIENTE NEWS joins the campaign #IlFuturoNelleNostreRadici (#IlFuturoNelleNostreRadici)

We’ve only just begun!

Despite the numerous obstacles facing, such as the current pandemic and the resulting quarantine, we knew we had to keep moving forward.

No sooner had the campaign #IlFuturoNelleNostreRadici (#theFutureIsInOurRoots) begun, than we were joined by the AMBIENTE News publishing company, a media partner whose contribution is coordinated by its editor-in-chief Antonio Rancati.

The passion for the environment and the sustainability of local territories that motivates AMBIENTE News makes it one of the most active, widely followed environmental organisations of its kind anywhere in the world.

And we share its dynamic, enterprising vision in full.

Which is why we have decided, together with them, to award a prize to the story that best highlights the ties of local areas to instances of natural beauty.

Both our organisations will continue to collect stories, in the hope of relieving some of the pressure and difficulties of these times of mass solitude, at the same time that we do our best to remind everyone that the world is made of millions of intertwined roots.

In other words, none of us are ever alone.  So here’s hoping for the best of success in all our endeavours.

Or, as Antonio would say, ‘Let’s do this!’

Did you know that Discoverplaces is an innovative Startup?

We have been members of Lazioinnova for a long time, and together with them we participated in seminars and workshops, but there were also many members who followed us and participated in our meetings on territorial promotion and good communication practices for tourism businesses with our Friend of Tourist. In this difficult period, Lazioinnova asked us to make a contribution for all members who, like us, started from the bottom, and who now cannot see a future beyond the Coronavirus emergency.

We recorded a video for them, with some useful tips and above all a message of positivity and hope. You have to be creative, adapt, because there will always be adversity, and stopping is not an option towards a better future.

We have found our "formula of happiness", the #IlFuturoNelleNostreRadici campaign ... which will be yours?

Calcata
Calcata

Last Thursday we went to Calcata, a village of tufa stone influenced by both ancient Etruscans and hippies!

Our exploration of the Lazio Region’s most fascinating towns continues on the weekly transmission “Amico Comune” (“Friendly Town”), where every Thursday we get to know another municipality, discovering it in the company of the mayor.

Perched on an island of tufa, the small burgh of Calcata is one of the most alluring, most frequently photographed towns in the Province of Viterbo. A jewel cast in the rich natural setting of the Valle del Treja park, Calcata offers no end of surprises, having inspired artists from all the corners of the globe, some of whom, having taken up residence in the town, occasionally turn it into an open-air museum for their works.

Calcata combines art, fun and history.

Every summer, the town’s medieval quarter, with its numerous restaurants, takes on a lively, festive air, thanks to multicultural events such as the Hippy Festival, leaving us longing to return to Calcata, just as soon as the current virus-related troubles are over.

In the meantime, you can still explore the town, thanks to our guide to Calcata.
Join us for next week’s expedition with our listeners, as we journey to another delightful town in the Lazio Region.

13 April: Interview with Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio for Madre Terra Daily

An alternative Easter Monday between two #
#IoMangioItaliano and #IlFuturoNelleNostreRadici

Our president Claudia Bettiol was interviewed by Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, President of the Univerde Foundation, in an episode of hi web program, Madre Terra Daily, to talk about the future and forecasts for a post-Coronavirus Italy.

We will start from our roots by eating Italian and traveling Italian, this is the summary of the interview and Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio also launched #IoViaggioItaliano (#ITravelItalian), in the spirit of the Opera 2030 network program, a promotional channel to spread positive values and a sense of civic, green and sustainable activism.

We talked about Discoverplaces, about our mission that began with the hashtag #ilfuturonellenostreradici (#TheFutureInOurRoots) which combines itself in harmony with the initiatives carried out by the President of the Univerde Foundation: I travel Italian.

A journey, for now a digital one, but we can't wait to help our territories and our small entrepreneurs to grow and recover from these months of standstill.

A precious opportunity also for those who want to get closer to their forgotten or set aside roots, who now want to share with us and the whole world their special stories and tales.

During the live broadcast, we had the pleasure of telling the story of the town of Controne, as we've been doing in the radio broadcast "Amico Comune", a town for which we also wrote the story and an article on its native bean.

We thank Alfonso for giving us this space, a first of many appointments and projects that we hope to share with him and his team!
