17 February: Unicas and Discoverplaces together for the promotion of Territories

An agreement has been signed between the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio and our Discoverplaces.travel website for the promotion of university research for the enhancement of the territory for tourism purposes.

Unicas intends to enhance the territories by making its know-how available to promote the excellence of Lazio, Molise and Campania. Territorial area with a strong tourist vocation that the Rector Giovanni Betta intends to support in the socio-economic process necessary for the realization of a real tourist economy.

Cultural and quality tourism, which requires intriguing stories especially in English, the second most common language in the world of tourism and business.
Discoverplaces is the ideal partner, a portal and a magazine promoting the local heritage in two languages which has already mapped the Municipalities of Lazio, also creating tourist guides for individual towns.

"The cultural tourist is very demanding" says Claudia Bettiol founder of Discoverplaces, "and wants to discover something unique". The particularities that emerge from the University's research can be a motivational push to discover these wonderful but not so well known areas on the road.

This tourist is also very attentive to the local food and wine culture, Unicas and Discoverplaces will therefore tell not only the material heritage but also the intangible heritage, traditions and craftsmanship.

For some time the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio has started thematic research and created valuable documentary archives that attest to the excellence of the territory. A meticulous work, carried out by teachers and students. The ideas that emerged from many degree theses are really interesting. A scientific documentation that must be told in simpler language, stories to be enjoyed free of charge on the web and translated into English, intended to intrigue an international reader.

Unicas therefore intends to enhance its scientific results by connoting them 'touristically' thanks to the channels in use at Discoverplaces which, for its part, will re-tell these researches in the language of the tourist.

In the coming year and months, stories drawn from research on archeology, art, urban planning, food and wine, local music and much more will be published.

This collaborative synergy intends to offer valuable support to all those small businesses that with care and dedication take up the ancient local traditions and help to make known many small municipalities that are at risk of depopulation despite the beauty of their heritage.

Unicas, on the other hand, has for some years launched a communication aimed at promoting social practices useful for enhancing engagement with the Territory. One of the 2020-2022 communication objectives is to educate all external stakeholders, referable to all areas, to constantly use the hashtag #TerritorioUnicas for events, activities and projects in co-participation.

16 February: Claudia Bettiol and Bruno Grassetti talk about China and Horses

As a tribute to the suffering of all the Chinese who are fighting for us and to 2020, the Year of Culture and Tourism between Italy and China, the Horse Museum Foundation and the Discoverplaces.travel portal have organized a corner dedicated to Chinese art in the horse.

The occasion is the exhibition of horses entitled "Freedom and the horse" which can be visited from 13 to 16 February within the Cavalli event in Rome inside the Fiera di Roma.

We created a corner with about thirty pieces that we found in our travels in China and on Sunday at 11 we will tell stories of China and its relationship with horses.

Did you know that the polo shirt was born in China? That the horse is the 'ferryman' of the souls of the dead and that is why he is a celestial figure? Did you know that there are many horses in the terracotta army? Do you know the Via del Te e dei Cavalli?

Claudia Bettiol and Bruno Grassetti will answer these questions and many others about China. Bruno was awarded the Friendship Medal by the Chinese government for his activity that began over thirty years ago.

8 February: Interview for the Chinese Television Media

We are receiving many beautiful letters from our Chinese friends and those who read our stories. On Saturday, a Chinese television reporter asked us for a short message about what we thought of the situation, what future China will wait for and a message for Whuan citizens.

We were very happy to send this video thanking them for everything they are doing to stop the epidemic and not get it to us.

7 February: Inauguration of the Academic Year of the University of Cassino

This year we were invited to the inauguration of the academic year of the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. A dynamic institution attentive to the development of the territory on which it insists and with which we have started an interesting collaboration.

The ceremony was attended by about thirty rectors who came from universities throughout Italy and Gaetano Manfredi, the Minister of Research and University who was rector of the Federico II University of Naples.

Perfect ceremony, with the hymn of Mameli sung by the Choir of Cassino and a series of interesting interventions such as that on the 'transculture' of Prof. Giovanni Capelli.

We felt deeply touched: we have always been cross-cultural.

I started from the philosophy applied to machines, then I went to science with all the dynamics on the structures, then my first job was in territorial marketing and tourism with the La Selva Park.

I built houses and lived the construction site to get to bioarchitecture and renewable energies, we were few and I taught 10 years at university. I realized that to promote a sustainable way of building I had to study communication and marketing. When speculation began on large photovoltaic fields, I promoted 'art and energy' to get to know many small businesses. The crisis and a geopolitical vision of the crisis led me to deal with tourism in small villages to counter the abandonment and escape of young people.

Transcultura? I am happy like this. Someone calls me difficult to follow. But which dream is easy to follow?

Thanks to the University of Cassino, the rector, Roberta Vinciguerra with whom we communicate the initiatives together and to Prof Giovanni Capelli for giving me the meaning of life.

I've always been super modern but the others didn't know it!

15 February: Signing of the Agreement between the FISE and the Horse Museum Foundation

Marco di Paola, president of the FISE - Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports and Maria Vittori, president of the Horse Museum Foundation, will sign a memorandum of understanding for the promotion of horse culture.

Equestrian sports are different from all others because they involve collaboration between the rider and the horse, an animal that has marked the history of men for centuries, even millennia. The foundation was created to help the growth of young athletes through the story of the relationship between man and horse that has been made known by many artistic events.

Over the years the foundation has collected almost a thousand pieces, some will be on display at the Cavalli a Roma Fair, from the 13th to the 16th of February 2020.

And it is precisely within this event that the official signature of this protocol will take place.

Cavalli a Roma Discoverplaces e Horse Museum
13-16 February: Horse Museum and Discoverplaces at "Cavalli a Roma" (Horses in Rome)

An exhibition and a large program of events for the Horse Museum Foundation which debuts in a horse show. In fact, so far exhibitions and events had taken place in museums to bring artists closer to the equestrian world while now the goal is to bring sportsmen closer to art. And to make many children passionate about the world of the horse.

It starts on 13 February, the opening day of Cavalli in Rome, with the inauguration of the exhibition "La Libertà e il Cavallo" at 11.00 am. The exhibition displays part of the Horse Museum collection with a selection of the most original pieces in whose artists and craftsmen have interpreted the horse in a personal way. Do not miss the 'smiling yellow horse', a piece by a craftsman from Vancouver (Canada) or the Mexican Horses and Mariachi (Botero style) that were the most loved by children during a previous exhibition.

At the inauguration we will also present the artistic competition dedicated to adults and children and which we will also do in connection with the "Horse Emotions" prize, the winner will then be able to go and receive the prize in the next edition of Fieracavalli in Verona.
From Thursday, all the 'equestrian enthusiasts' of the foundation will entertain the children with a Quiz to test their knowledge of the sport horse but also of the horse in the world and in human history.

On Valentine's Day, Friday 14 February at 11:00, the agreement protocol between FISE and Horse Museum will be signed, which is a good omen as an 'engagement'. An afternoon "painting extemporaneous" will be organized together with the Liceo Artistico San Giuseppe of Grottaferrata with the high school students who will portray in their own way and by any means of expression, the activities that take place in the underlying Pony City.

Saturday afternoon creative workshops will be held with the girls of the Rocca Priora Library who will read horse stories and have children build small horses. At 16.00 in the afternoon, you will meet the sports photographer Massimo Argenziano who will tell his photos exposed in a section of the exhibition dedicated to sports photography.

Sunday will be dedicated to our Chinese corner to remember that 2020 is the year of Culture and Tourism between Italy and China and that even if we cannot meet in person, we will not forget how they are fighting against Coronavirus.

Some Chinese pieces are exhibited and one of our 'fans' will guide you to the knowledge of Chinese art by telling stories of Chinese horses. The relationship between China and Horses is so intense that one of the signs of the zodiac of the Chinese horoscope has been dedicated to this animal.

Evento biodiversit dei monti lepini
Evento biodiversit dei monti lepini

A beautiful day in the conference room and in the refectory attached to the suggestive Cistercian Abbey of Fossanova to listen to biodiversity experts from the Lepini Mountains and to reflect on how to promote sustainable tourism in these territories.

A morning enchanted by the wonders of the 6 Natural Monuments found in the Lepini Mountains area and a fruitful exchange of ideas with the President of the Caetani Foundation who manages the Garden of Ninfa and the Castle of Sermoneta.

A praise to the Compagnia dei Lepini and its president Quirino Briganti who are the organizers of the event and who designed it being careful to involve the scientific parties and local operators. A provocative intervention by Giuliano Tallone of the Lazio Region Regional Tourism Observatory opened the workshop where we were invited to give our contribution.

The appointment now in its sixth edition has seen a strong participation of the public and university students and this leaves us with a positive image of a dynamic territory that wants to be known by the world.
